10 Movie Deaths We All Wanted (But Never Got)
2. Dolores Umbridge - Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
Each instalment of the Harry Potter franchise had a unique villain: Voldemort, the Basilisk, the Dementors to name a few. Terrifying and loathsome in equal measure.
None are quite as despicable as the pink-cladded Dolores Umbridge.
She is first introduced in the fifth instalment as Hogwarts' new Ministry-appointed Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher, and makes an immediate impact. Dozens of new decrees are implemented that restrict the freedoms of the students, but the worst of her actions are suffered by those who must endure detention with her, including Harry Potter.
Forced to write a letter of what he had done wrong with a quill provided by Umbridge, he discovers that what he writes is seared into his hand as a reminder as to why he was punished. This escalated for the duration of the film until her suspension from Hogwarts finally came on the back of the abuse claims, but her menacing ways did not stop here.
Instead, she was given a prominent position in the Ministry on the Muggle-Born Registration Commission. This gave her the authority to subject Muggle-born wizards to Dementors and imprison them for 'stealing' magic.
If this brief - yes, brief - look at her heinous activity doesn't make you long to put her in the ground, go familiarise yourself with everything else she has done.
