10 Movie Directors Who Dated Their Stars

10. Paul WS Anderson And Milla Jovovich

This is very much a relationship which seems to be working out pretty well for everyone involved, except for audiences. Paul WS Anderson made his filmmaking debut with the promising indie crime drama Shopping, which somehow evolved into him working on every video game adaptation Uwe Boll wasn't allowed near (Mortal Kombat, Dead Or Alive) or else producing truly awful sci-fi sequels (Alien Vs Predator, anyone?). The crowning achievement of his thoroughly mediocre - often bordering on terrible, with brief glimpses of hope like Event Horizon and Pandorum - directorial career has been the Resident Evil films, all six of which he's been involved with and four of which he helmed himself. The Final Chapter is currently in production. As upsetting as those terrible excuses for zombie movies have been for most of us they've ended up being life-changing (in a good way) for Anderson: the set of the first film is where he met his wife, star Milla Jovovich, who is perennially in our good books for her part as Leeloo in The Fifth Element. Jovovich has starred as the increasingly powerful slayer of the undead in every Resident Evil film so far, which mean she works pretty closely with her hubby on a permanent basis, pretty much. "I tell Paul every day, he spoils me. It is such a pleasure. We have our family together. We do these fun movies together. What am I going to do when I have to go work with somebody else?" says Jovovich. Which is sweet. Even if the films they make are massive stinkers, at least something nice came of them.
