10 Movie Easter Eggs Added At The Last Minute
1. Shawarma - The Avengers
The Easter Egg
Though at first glance The Avengers' post-credits scene might not seem like much of an Easter egg, it's important to remember that the scene wasn't actually included in the version of the film screened to the press.
And so, with reviews mentioning only a mid-credits scene (where Thanos made his MCU debut), many audiences upped and left long before the shawarma scene even happened.
Thankfully most fans ended up going to see the movie at least once more, and once public screenings were underway, it naturally didn't take long before word of a post-credits tag got out in the wild.
As for the "scene" itself? It's nothing more than a seconds-long gag where the exhausted Avengers dine at a shawarma restaurant, circling back to Tony Stark's (Robert Downey Jr.) prior line about going out for some shawarma.
The Story
This scene was such a late addition that it was actually filmed the day after the movie had its world premiere - hence why it was absent from press screenings, and director Joss Whedon even jokingly denied its existence during interviews leading up to release.
Another fun fact - Chris Evans has his fist covering his face during the scene because he'd grown his beard out for another movie, and was using his fist to pin a facial prosthetic to his mug.
