10 Movie Easter Eggs You Never Spotted
1. The Rocky Horror Picture Show - Easter Egg Hunt
It's outrageously campy, full of ridiculously catchy songs, and is cited as kick starting the midnight movie trend, The Rocky Horror Picture Show is the very definition of cult classic. And if there's another reason to owe a debt to this film's influence in cinema, it's also understood to be the film where the term 'Easter Egg' originated.
The story goes that the cast and crew of the film took part in an actual Easter Egg hunt one day before shooting and weren't able to find all of the eggs before filming. Consequently, a total of three literal Easter Eggs can be found in the film. There's one visible under the throne of sweet transvestite Dr Frank N Furter (Tim Curry), one in the place of a lamp in the main room, and the third can be glimpsed as Brad (Barry Bostwick) and Janet (Susan Sarandon) use the elevator to travel to Frank's lab.
Next time you watch this film, in addition to singing along to all of your favourite songs, try and see if you can find these Easter Eggs that the film's crew couldn't.
