10 Movie Endings Way Darker Than You Realise
5. Ewoks Eat The Stormtroopers - Star Wars: Return Of The Jedi
Much as Star Wars: Return of the Jedi ends the original trilogy on a triumphant note as Palpatine is defeated and the Empire crumbles, the galaxy-wide celebration is hampered somewhat by the sly implication of human-eating. Yup.
Return of the Jedi introduced fans to the adorable, fuzzy Ewoks, who are nevertheless shown to be carnivorous given that they very nearly end up eating Luke (Mark Hamill), Han (Harrison Ford), and Chewbacca (Peter Mayhew) upon crossing paths with them.
And while they ultimately all worked together to fight the Empire and celebrated in unison at the end, the Ewoks almost certainly didn't afford the same quarter to the Stormtroopers they captured during the Battle of Endor.
Given that we can even see an Ewok drumming with on some Stormtrooper helmets right at the end of the film, it seems pretty cut-and-dried that they spit-roasted and ate their defeated foes.
Hell, Disney even addressed it themselves in the animated series Star Wars: Forces of Destiny, where Leia persuades the Ewoks not to eat the Stormtroopers.
It's a canon series in fairness, yet even if the Ewoks didn't eat these specific Stormtroopers, they're clearly still in the disturbing habit of noshing on people.
