While it's not hugely uncommon to see a major character go to the bathroom during a movie, three times is a bit excessive, no?

Well, in Pulp Fiction we see Vincent Vega (John Travolta) heading to the toilet on a trio of separate occasions - when he gets to Mia Wallace's (Uma Thurman) apartment, in the diner, and when he breaks into Butch's (Bruce Willis) apartment.

In two of these scenes we see Vincent sat down and dropping a leisurely deuce, and there's a reason why Tarantino decided to show us this - constipation is a major symptom of heroin abuse.

It absolutely makes sense and you probably knew it on some level, too - the film makes it pretty clear that Vincent isn't living a particularly healthy lifestyle, in terms of both his drug use and diet, so it makes all the sense in the world that he'd be digestively compromised.

And on top of that, something bad also happens every single time Vincent goes to the bathroom in the movie - Mia overdoses, the diner gets robbed, and then he gets ventilated with a machine-gun by Butch. Spooky.
