1. The Soul Stone Is In Wakanda - Avengers: Infinity War
The Theory
The final remaining Infinity Stone, the Soul Stone, is located in Wakanda, having crashed to Earth inside the ancient vibranium meteorite responsible for Wakanda's prosperity.
Why Everyone Believed It
By 2018, the Soul Stone was the only remaining Infinity Stone unaccounted for, and with Black Panther introducing both the ancestral plane and the vitality-giving heart-shaped herb, it was easy to believe that the Soul Stone residing within Wakanda's soil caused these phenomena to occur.
After all, with Infinity War having to juggle so many elements, it was a pretty reasonable expectation that the Soul Stone would be found somewhere that audiences were already familiar with.
What Actually Happened
Surprisingly, the Soul Stone was indeed found at an entirely new location - the remote planet Vormir, where Thanos (Josh Brolin) sacrifices Gamora's (Zoe Saldana) life in order to retrieve it from the Stone Keeper aka Red Skull (Ross Marquand).
Though not the revelation most fans were expecting, it certainly worked out well enough, delivering one of the MCU's most shocking and affecting moments of recent years.
