8. Harry Potter & Lord of the Rings Fans
What They Think: "That longing glance between Ron and Hermione on page 241 wasn't kept in the film, therefore it sucks! But I'll keep watching them anyway..." Book sticklers are pretty annoying in general. I can understand how frustrating it is to see a beloved novel get adapted badly to the screen, but let's face it, on the whole the Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings films were extremely well adapted to the cinematic medium, and most any complaints people have are just nit-picks. No, not everything can make it into the film - not even a Peter Jackson Extended Edition - but just be satisfied that the book you love so much has been brought to the screen with such meticulous care. Instead, these fans too often seem to focus on the minor details that didn't make the cut, ignoring the fact that, at the end of the day, these films need to be brisk and broad to rope in casual audiences as well as the novel fans. The filmmakers behind both of these franchises did an exceptional job realising that compromise, and fans need to be more grateful for that.
