10 Movie Franchises Hollywood Will Never Let Die
3. Batman
If Batman can survive Joel Schumacher, he can survive anything.
Arguably the most popular comic book character in history, and top three at the very least, there will always be an audience for The Dark Knight. If the 1940's serials are counted, then Ben Affleck's most recent turn as the Caped Crusader in Justice League marked the character's thirteenth feature-length appearance.
As you would expect from a character that made his theatrical bow 75 years ago, Batman's cinematic exploits have seen their fair share of highs and lows. From the camp of Adam West's 1966 effort to the critical acclaim Christopher Nolan brought to the franchise via the Gothicism of Tim Burton and Schumacher's neon-and-nipples approach, the World's Greatest Detective is a character wide open to reinterpretation.
Despite the continued uncertainty surrounding Affleck's tenure under the cape and cowl, Matt Reeves is currently hard at work bringing us the next standalone Batman movie, tentatively set for next year. One of the few characters in cinema people haven't gotten sick of yet even after umpteen reboots, the iconic superhero will probably still be beating the sh*t out of criminals on the big screen a hundred years from now.
