10 Movie Franchises That Actually Ended On A High
2. Star Wars: The Original Trilogy
You might think we're cheating with this one, but hear me out. Considering how far apart in time the prequels, original trilogy, and sequels take place from each other, it's not unfair to consider each trilogy their own mini franchise, with their own beginnings, middles, and ends.
While we have to wait a few months to see how Rise Of Skywalker concludes the sequel trilogy, it cannot be denied that the best ending to these trilogies so far is Return Of The Jedi.
While maligned in its day (before we knew exactly how bad this franchise could get), Return Of The Jedi has more than won the argument in the long run. Taking our characters from their lowest point in the previous film, and having them slowly climb their way back up throughout this one.
Sure, building another death star for the finale was a bit cheap (especially since it seemed to severely lack both blackjack and hookers) and considering how vital they were to the finale, the Ewoks are not in the film as much as they should be.
But that final battle between Luke and Darth Vader? Aces all around.
