10 Movie Franchises That Have Over-Stayed Their Welcome

10. Twilight

Edward and Bella With the imminent release of Breaking Dawn Part 2, it€™s fair to say this franchise will soon be over, but that doesn't hide the fact that Twilight has gone on way too long. It all started so well too. The first Twilight isn't all that bad and appealed to non-fans of the books. Aside from jumping on the infuriating bandwagon of splitting final book adaptations into two, the main problem with Twilight is how everyone reacts to it. Twilight has now reached the point where it is more divisive than Marmite. People can€™t just like it; they have to love it, screaming at its stars and unconditionally loving anything relating to Bella and co. Likewise, people can€™t just dislike it; they have to hate it, constantly citing it as the worst series ever and using liking it as a grave insult. And the films have done nothing to help this. As the series has continued, its quality has decreased rapidly, catering solely to the series current fans. Say what you think about Harry Potter, but at least each new film made itself accessible. Twilight was an average franchise that could have remained as ignorable as Resident Evil, but thanks to the fervour and frequency with which people rant about it, it has well outstayed its welcome.
