10 Movie Franchises That Just Kept Getting Worse
2. The Terminator
Much like its title character, it seems that the creative minds responsible for running the Terminator franchise into the ground can't be bargained with, can't be reasoned with, don't feel pity or remorse or fear and absolutely will not stop...ever... until the series is well and truly dead.
There hasn't been a good Terminator for over a quarter of a century, and yet they still keep trying and trying. Ever hear the definition of insanity?
James Cameron's movies remain bonafide classics of both sci-fi and action cinema, a fact that no amount of crap sequels will ever change no matter how hard they tried. Rise of the Machines is a standard blockbuster with a great ending, Salvation took the 'future war' concept fans wanted to see and executed it terribly, and Genisys is just a mess from top to bottom.
Fans have been hoping for years that the rights would revert back to Cameron and the franchise would finally be put to rest, seeing as he's tied up with Avatar sequels for the next 400 years. While Cameron has returned to the fold, he is collaborating with Tim Miller on new story ideas with septuagenarian Arnold Schwarzenegger involved once again. He's been back enough, just leave it alone.
