10 Movie Franchises That Rebooted Way Too Soon

8. Spider-Man

Where do we begin with this one? Sam Raimi€™s Spider-Man trilogy was mildly successful, and with the success of Marvel films following Spider-Man 3 Sony sought to keep the rights. The only way to do this was to release a new film, and what originated as a planned Spider-Man 4 morphed into the Amazing Spider-Man reboot. This reboot has certainly been distinct, but this year€™s sequel was mediocre and rather lacklustre. Tobey Maquire last portrayed Peter Parker in 2007, Andrew Garfield€™s first portrayal was in 2012. Five years was barely enough time to forget the over-packed third film, and audiences has already experienced Spider-Man€™s origin story once before, so the first film felt rather repetitive. Both franchises are strong in different ways, but the current franchise will struggle once it brings in characters that have already been included once. It is reasonable to assume that Doctor Octopus will be included in the Sinister Six film due to the Easter Egg in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, and soon we will have another Mary-Jane Watson on screen. Sony has also stated that a Venom film is in the works, so audiences again will be feeling a sense of déjà vu. Will audiences tire of this repetitive feeling?
