10 Movie Franchises We Never Want To See Rebooted Again
1. Terminator
Next year marks the 30th anniversary of the release of Terminator 2: Judgement Day, one of the all-time best blockbusters to ever come out of Hollywood, as well as the last time the franchise came anywhere close to greatness. We've had four Terminator movies since then, and all of them have disappointed for various reasons.
Rise of the Machines gave us the Judgement Day sequel we were asking for, but James Cameron's influence was sorely missed and very noticeable, with the shocking ending the only shred of originality about Jonathan Mostow's movie.
Salvation promised the future war fans had been desperate to see on the big screen for years, and is probably best remembered for Christian Bale's infamous rant more than anything else, while Genisys tried to hit that nostalgic sweet spot and turned out to be the worst Terminator flick yet.
Hopes were high that the returns of both Cameron and Linda Hamilton for Dark Fate would give the franchise the kick up the a*se that it needed, but once again we got burned in another sequel that quickly reverted to 'protect the chosen one' formula despite killing off John Connor and reinventing the cold-blooded T800 as a family man named Carl.
Dark Fate bombed at the box office and reportedly lost the studio anywhere up to $120m, and after four disappointing follow-ups in a row, it might have served as the final nail in the Terminator's coffin.
