10 Movie Franchises With Recurring Easter Eggs
8. The Pixar Timeline
One of the all time greatest fan theories, which borrows heavily from easter eggs scattered all across the Pixar library, is the Pixar Timeline.
Simply put, it's the idea - later confirmed by the creators - that every Pixar film takes place in the same universe. Granted across hundreds of years apart from each other, so as to make sense of how Coco can inhabit the same world as Cars.
The Pixar Timeline is a long and complicated web of easter eggs spread out over the Pixar library, denser than a dying sun, but if you have a keen eye and a lot of patience, you can make out the logic behind it. Which makes sense, considering that the first dozen or so films were thought up by the Pixar staff around the same time and so putting them in the same universe isn't all that hard.
It's doubtful that the Pixar films will ever take advantage of this timeline, so it will likely remain a clever little easter egg. And in this age of cinematic universes, that's probably for the best.
