Kick Ass, released in 2010, centres around a teenage boy who wanted to stand up for the little guys in the world by becoming a vigilante. As out of his depth as he was, he gained the trust of two serious ass-kickers in Big Daddy and Hit-Girl, who were attempting to take down New York's biggest mob. After having met up with Red Mist (a villain posing as an ally), Kick Ass and Big Daddy are lured into a trap.

Why he shouldn't have bothered: Kick Ass broke the golden rule of the internet: don't meet up with online strangers, and as a result put his life and Big Daddy's in danger. Clearly Big Daddy and Hit Girl were better equipped to deal with matters themselves, but Kick Ass just couldn't leave well alone.

The consequences: After being lured into Red Mist's trap, Big Daddy was beaten and burned alive, leaving Hit Girl without a Dad and New York without its biggest hero.
