5. Hercules Allows Destruction To Rain Down Upon The World

In 1997, Disney's Hercules (which has THE GREATEST Disney soundtrack of all time by the way) hit the cinemas, accompanied by the voice talent of James Woods, Susan Egan and Danny DeVito. The story itself focused on the demi-god Hercules, who was trying to make sense of his role in the world and earn his worth to join Zeus et al on Mount Olympus. Along the way, he was seduced by the mysterious Meg - who wasn't all that she seemed.

Why Herc shouldn't have bothered: After having confronted Hades and entered a bargain to trade his godly powers for a day in order to save Meg from harm, Hercules discovered that Meg was in fact working for Hades all along, and despite falling in love with him, was using Hercules for Hades' personal gain.

The consequence: After giving up his powers, Hades unleashed the Titans on the world causing mass chaos and destruction. Had Hercules stayed home and not bothered trying to be a hero, he never would have met Meg and indirectly unleashed the Titans. Although to be fair, we also never would have seen that awesome Hydra fight scene either.

I see my role at WhatCulture the same way my wife sees my role as a lover: I contribute in a very small way, my presence is barely noticeable and I’m not entirely sure if the laughter is at me or with me.
