8. Dave Lizewski - Kick Ass
Why Is He An Idiot? Dave is a passive, nerdy comic book enthusiast who dreams of becoming a superhero, so does. He dawns a ridiculous green suit and arms himself with a pair of batons in a bid to fight crime. The term 'brave but foolish' comes to mind immediately. He doesn't have the powers of Superman, or the money of Batman. He doesn't even have the martial prowess of his to-be crime fighting partners, Big Daddy and Hit Girl, who show him up at every occasion. Even if Hit Girl is only 11 and Big Daddy is Nicolas Cage.
Top Idiotic Moment After seeking out crime to fight, Dave finds it in the form of a ruthless gang, which proceeds to beat him up worse than Bruce Wayne at the hands of Bane (or George Clooney). He ends up beaten, broken, bruised, basically any word synonymous with -a f**k load of pain. And what does poor Dave do? Go back out there and take on a mob. Again, brave but foolish.
How He Saved the Day After Big Daddy is brutally wiped out, Hit Girl attacks full force to a thumping Joan Jett soundtrack. Just as it seems she is alone on this mission, destined to fail at the hands of a crazy man with a bazooka, Dave appears from nowhere, flying with a haphazard jet pack and gunning down guards with a pair of insanely CGI mini guns. It's a gloriously gratuitous scene of destruction, signalling Dave has learnt the ways of a true superhero: save the day, at the cost of the interior design.
