1. Jack Sparrow - Pirates Of The Caribbean: The Curse Of The Black Pearl, Dead Man's Chest, At World's End, On Stranger Tides
Role in the team: The Wildcard The final member of the team is the one that really makes the difference, but who you can never really be sure you can trust and who is utterly unpredictable about just what he will do next. Probably the ultimate maverick anti-hero antagonist-cum-sidekick of recent years, Johnny Depp's Jack Sparrow embodies the adventure crew wildcard better than any other character in recent times. The slurring, staggering, shambolic Sparrow came right out of leftfield to make Curse Of The Black Pearl an unexpected delight. As he double and triple crosses his way around the Caribbean, both audience and fellow characters are never quite sure whether this Jack is making it up as he goes along or if its all part of the plan. Yes, he's a dishonest man, but as he says: "a dishonest man you can always trust to be dishonest, honestly". A pair of good if messy back to back sequels and a completely forgettable fourth part may have struggled to capture that same lightning in a bottle of Depp's crazy performance, but such is the popularity of this Jack that audiences will be lining up for the mooted fifth instalment whatever it's about. That is the greatness of the heroic Jack and why this team would prove unstoppable in a movie of their own. Really if you think there's a better hero name you don't know Jack.
