9. Jack - Pitch Black/The Chronicles Of Riddick

While the classic action team is typically something of a sausage fest (see anything from The A-Team to The Expendables), there is usually one place available for the token "chick". Usually a tomboy who is perfectly capable of holding her own alongside the macho heroes (and therefore rarely attracting any romantic interest from them), action chick Jacks crop up on TV in the guise of Once Upon A Time's take on the aforementioned giant slayer and one of the Merry Men in the BBC's Robin Hood.

Hiding as a boy amongst the passengers on the Hunter-Gratzner when it crash lands in Pitch Black, this Jack's femininity is revealed, as these girl-disguised-as-boy stories often are, by menstruation at the worst possible time. Fortunately, this seems to inspire some kind of protective instinct in hardened killer Richard B. Riddick and Jack escapes the planet's carnivorous monster population.

The appropriate mix of a girl that is able to handle herself and a damsel in need of rescue, overblown sequel The Chronicles Of Riddick has the hero encounter convict Jack in the more overtly female form of Alexa Davalos on ludicrously literally named burning prison planet Crematoria but later has to rescue her from the equally ridiculously named Necromongers, Riddick's Jack is a perfect action team chick.
