10 Movie Jacks You Need In A Crisis

10. Jack - Jack The Giant Slayer

Role in the team: The Rookie Culturally the Jack who climbed the beanstalk and killed a giant is the sort of ur-Jack, the archetype of the inventive rascal Jack hero that other Jacks still draw on (comic book series Fables assumed all fairytale Jacks are the same plucky chancer, hence its spin-off Jack Of Fables in which his adventures have become a hit movie series). Cinematically, though, Jack the Giant Slayer is the baby of the team. Not only is this true in the sense that the film is newer than the rest on this list and, with its decidedly mixed reviews, less of a classic, but also in the fact that its protagonist is a comparatively callow youth on his first adventure where most Jacks have seen a little more of the world. That's OK, though, because like Matt Damon in Ocean's 11 every team needs a rookie. This Jack is the one that the other team members can take under their wing, show him the ropes and see him rise to the occasion as a true princess rescuing, giant slaying hero.
