2. Michael ("Fresh") - Fresh
First of all, Fresh's father in the movie is Samuel L. Jackson. Thus, he is already in possession of a good amount of badassery just from genetics alone. But it gets better, and not just because Jackson plays an alcoholic speed chess master. The movie starts and Fresh is already a street smart drug dealer who, in addition to all of the hazards of dealing drugs, juggles his friends, his drug-addicted sister, a passion for speed chess, and middle school. Middle school? Fresh is all of twelve years old. He has already been running and dealing drugs for some amount of time, but this movie isn't his rise to criminal success and financial stability. This movie is about how a middle school speed chess nerd (with some strategy tutelage from his dad) is ultimately able to manipulate and maneuver two drug kingpins against each other, resulting in their mutual demise and freedom for him and his sister. It isn't just dumb luck, either; Fresh plays the long game and sets up all his pieces
just so to execute a coldly and immaculately plotted revenge. Sh*t, he even sets up one of his best friends for a fall. Fresh is not somebody you want to p*ss off, because in the end, he'll get you. It might not be today, it might not be tomorrow, but one day. One day.
