10 Movie Mistakes Staring You In The Face
8. "Jewel Hiest" - The Dark Knight Rises
There are certain directors who are famed for their meticulousness and unwavering attention to detail. Right up there alongside the likes of Stanley Kubrick and Quentin Tarantino is Christopher Nolan.
Though typically a perfectionist, there was one moment in The Dark Knight Rises where such attention to detail was seemingly forgotten about. When Bruce Wayne was researching Selina Kyle, he came across a newspaper article claiming she was a suspect in a jewel "hiest". It may only be a case of two letters being the wrong way round, but it's one of those things that draws the eye immediately. Seeing heist spelled as 'hiest' just looks awkward and clunky, and it's incredible this wasn't picked up before it was too late.
For the fictional Gotham Times to print such an error is hard to believe, but for a mistake this obvious to make into one of the biggest blockbusters of the century, under the watchful eye of Christopher Nolan no less, is even harder.
It seems that someone stuck to the 'I before E except after C' rule a little too religiously.
