It may have taken the Academy of Motion Pictures decades to finally realize the acting world was gifted with a gem when Leonardo DiCaprio got into the business with his award for Revenant, but the rest of us knew all along that this guy was a true professional.

Take, for example, his outstanding performance as Calvin Candie in Quentin Tarantino's 2012 film, Django Unchained. Not only did he play a ruthless psychopath who fought his slaves against one another for sport, he was a true Southern gentleman.

This was evident during the dinner/negotiation scene where DiCaprio's Candie decides to drive a point home by slamming the palm of his hand on the table as hard as possible. Unfortunately for Mr. DiCaprio, there happened to be a crystal glass in the way, which shattered and embedded a chunk or two into the actor's hand. The film's producer, Stacey Sher, described the scene in an interview with Variety:

“Leo had slammed his hand on the table countless times and he moved his hand further and crushed a crystal glass. Blood was dripping down his hand. He never broke character. He kept going. He was in such a zone. It was very intense. He required stitches.”

The injury was so unexpected and intense, you can see the look of shocked concern on the actor's face sitting to his right. Fortunately, a little blood wasn't going to slow Leo down and he finished the scene, which was kept in the movie.
