10 Movie “Mistakes” That Were Put There Intentionally

2. Escalator Slide (Skyfall)

Skyfall Bond Silva Slide London Underground

One of Skyfall's best action scenes finds Daniel Craig's Bond chasing down Javier Bardem's Silva, with the pair sprinting through the London Underground and sliding down the centre of an escalator.

It's quite a smooth ride down to the bottom where their chase resumes, but those of us who've considered performing such a feat in real life will know that Bond's brief slide would not have played out this way.

In reality, the two men would've whacked their private parts on the number of small signs commonly found at the centre of escalators - signs put in place to prevent people sliding down them.

And while that would make for a pretty funny chase scene, it wouldn't have made for an exciting one, which is why the filmmakers opted to ditch the signs, giving Bond and Silva a clean ride down to the bottom.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for over ten years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. In 2022, he took charge of WhoCulture and has grown it into the biggest Doctor Who channel on YouTube, and one of the biggest Doctor Who communities on the web full-stop. He has been writing and video editing since his early teens, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers, off the back of a burning obsession with the Matt Smith era of the show. Like many his age, he first got into Doctor Who with the 2005 revival, but has since gone back and fallen in love with the classic years too. If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order, or to give you a random factoid about the making of Gridlock, Danny is the person to ask!
