10 Movie Moments That Look Like CGI But Aren't

8. Diving Into The Bath - Mary Poppins Returns

Released in 2018, Mary Poppins Returns is a quaint and charming musical sequel to the 1964 classic film Mary Poppins. The film stars Emily Blunt and sees everyone's favourite magical babysitter reunited with the two children she used to nanny, Jane and Michael Banks and their family following the death of Michael's wife in the midst of the Great Depression.

It's an uplifting and charming time, filled with the usual fantastical moments of magic that have endeared the Mary Poppins character to millions of people around the world for over fifty years.

One particular moment that had audiences hooked kicks off when Mary Poppins arrives and runs a bath for three children. Under the promise of an underwater adventure, Mary Poppins and the children each drop themselves into the bathtub and, once they slip through all the bubbles, are whisked off into their babysitter's magical world.

The effects in this one moment are wonderfully fantastical and had most assuming that some form of CGI was being used. However, the film's effects crew managed to create an entire slide underneath the set that Emily Blunt and her children co-stars could fall onto and slide safely down. The actors would then have the very real bubbles wiped off them, and the audience would be blown away by the coolest bathtub sequence in Hollywood history.
