10 Movie Moments That Pissed Fanboys Off The Most In 2015
7. Totally Wasting Yellowjacket - Ant-Man
The Moment: Not so much a single moment as the entire depiction of the movie's chief villain, ethically-dubious scientist Darren Cross (Corey Stoll), who of course ends up going mad after donning the Yellowjacket suit, and taking Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) aka Ant-Man's daughter Cassie hostage in order to lure him into a final fight. Why The Fanboys Hate It: Because it's something of a running joke by now that most Marvel movies have thoroughly underwhelming, boring villains, and much like Malekith from Thor and Ronan from Guardians Of The Galaxy, he's a forgettable baddie with almost no personality whatsoever. He's a boring, black-and-white corporate douche who, of course, gets his mind manipulated by technology and, of course, has to get Lang's family involved, because apparently there's no other way the audience would feel invested in the battle. It's all straight out of the Cliched Villain Handbook, and considering how much could have been done with the character (not to mention casting an actor of Stoll's caliber), it just felt like Marvel didn't put enough effort into him outside of the admittedly riveting action sequences.
