10 Movie Moments That Should Make You Look Away (But Totally Gripped You)

8. The Mangling Of Olga - Suspiria (2018)

When Elena Fokina’s Olga Ivanova has a meltdown in the middle of a rehearsal at the prestigious Markos dance school, she unknowingly makes the biggest mistake of her life.

She proceeds to berate the artistic director Madame Blanc (Tilda Swinton) and accuse the matrons of causing the disappearance of her friend Patricia (Chloë Grace Moretz)… needless to say; the academy’s matrons don’t take it well. This, however, is made very dangerous by the fact that the matrons are actually a coven of evil witches who won’t think twice about literally mangling a person for calling them out in such a way.

What follows is arguably one of the most disturbing and violent movie moments of 2018. Deciding to flee the school, Olga winds up trapped in a rehearsal studio where she is brutally twisted and flung around the room by way of the witches’ magic. Her jaw dislocates, her leg breaks and her ribs pop – amongst other knee-jerking injuries. Once it’s finally over, a number of the witches pierce Olga’s body with hooks and drag her away in her newly-crumpled form.

It’s a killer challenge to watch this scene without feeling physically uncomfortable, but an even harder challenge to not watch it at all.

Elliot Singleton hasn't written a bio just yet, but if they had... it would appear here.
