10 Movie Moments We Need To See In 2021
3. A Genuinely Strong Video Game Adaptation - Uncharted
This is less a single moment than what this movie needs to achieve in general, and that is to be a genuinely strong video game adaptation. At the moment, arguably the best movie to come from the gaming world is Detective Pikachu, and while it was a fun movie, it doesn't exactly set the bar too high.
Uncharted has been through developmental hell over the years, originally beginning development over a decade ago, and going through a revolving door of directors before finally landing Ruben Fleischer. This needs to be something truly special when it releases, to make up for the many years the loyal fans have had to wait.
There is certainly potential for this, as Tom Holland should make a fantastic young Nathan Drake, and Fleischer has a couple of hits under his belt with Venom and Zombieland, but the genre is seemingly cursed, which is always a worry with every single game adaptation.
There has already been an incredible Uncharted fan movie released in 2018, with Nathan Fillion portraying Drake, and it was fantastic, so it certainly can be done. However, it would be simply unacceptable if the official movie wasn't as good as this.
