4. Venom Vs Spider-Man - Spider-Man 3

As soon as there were Spider-Man movies, fans wanted to see their favourite comic book characters on screen. Sam Raimi obviously started strongly, but we wanted to see Kingpin, Kraven, Doc Ock and Vulture as quickly as possible. For a lot of fans, though, the top of that wishlist was always going to be the coolest Spidey-verse character there had ever been: Venom.

Such was the enthusiasm for fans to see Venom in a Spider-Man movie, in fact, that it infected the studio and they basically forced Sam Raimi to use the character against his initial intentions in Spider-Man 3. And what did fans care that he was being strong-armed, really? We'd waited for this moment eagerly since the trilogy kicked off.

But Then...

Oh Lord, it's a mess. The film is nowhere near the dumpster fire it is often proclaimed, but Venom does feel rather tacked on because of Raimi's lack of enthusiasm. He's removed from the emotional heart of the film - unlike Green Goblin and Doctor Octopus - and it made him horribly disappointing.
