5. Slender Man - Slender Man
How the stars didn't align for this movie is anybody's guess. So much potential, and such a boring movie. So underwhelming in fact, it is arguably one of the most disappointing horror movies of the past decade. Slender Man should have been a hit, it should have been a scary movie, but sadly the result was anything but.
Reason being, they did not give Javier Botet anywhere near enough screen time as the titular antagonist.
If Botet was born to play any role from his physicality alone, it would seemingly be that of Slender Man. An internet sensation mired in controversy and real life tragedy, the iconography of Slender Man looms large in popular culture. However, in the movie, he's very much hiding in the background for far too much screen time.
It goes without saying that Botet does a fine job with the monstrous character for however long he's on screen, we just wish he was there more often. Maybe a movie called Slender Man should be more about Slender Man, rather than a bunch of stupid teens who do dumb stuff.
