Stories of tired, bored, or just plain juvenile animators apparently sneaking inappropriate designs into some of our favourite childhood movies have been around seemingly since the beginning of cinema itself. Yet, more often than not, these tales are proven to be false later down the line and that also applies to a rather suggestive looking object that snuck onto the poster for none other than The Little Mermaid.

On the back of the feature being released on VHS (I know! Remember them?), a rumour began to spread that what appeared to be a penis had been purposely drawn into the castle backdrop behind the main characters. This was said to have been a reaction from a disgruntled employee who acted out after hearing they would be fired after the project had concluded.

This was far from the case, though, as the artist themselves admitted that the design was the result of a rushed attempt to get the job done on time, with most of the drawing coming at "about four in the morning". It was also said that they only became aware of the unfortunately shaped tower when a member of their youth church informed them about the rumour.
