10 Movie Origin Stories We Almost Got

9. Godzilla Was Frozen In Ice - Godzilla (2014)

Gareth Edwards' 2014 Godzilla reboot introduced an origin story for the iconic creature in which he had lived for thousands of years, with the 1954 Bikini Atoll nuclear tests actually being an attempt by the U.S. government to kill him, setting the stage for his return in the present day.

But according to the movie's behind-the-scenes book "Godzilla: The Art of Destruction," Godzilla's origin story was initially supposed to be markedly different, with the monster instead being discovered frozen in the Siberian tundra.

This was scrapped, however, after Warner Bros. executives realised this bore a fair similarity to the Fortress of Solitude being buried in ice in Man of Steel - which was released only a year prior - and so opted to radically rework it.

The original planned story was likely the inspiration, then, for the villainous King Ghidorah being discovered encased in ice in the sequel, Godzilla: King of the Monsters.
