10 Movie Passion Projects That Will Never Get Made
6. Stanley Kubrick's Napoleon
Like Robert Rodriguez, there doesn't appear to be many films that Stanley Kubrick didn't make. It's just that his tended to be of a more consistent quality, and never involved Sylvester Stallone or Lady Gaga. His uncompleted sci-fi flick, AI, was eventually filmed by Stephen Spielberg years after Kubrick died. His Napoleon, meanwhile, remains unrealised. Because, well, Kubrick died many years ago. After he passed on his family unearthed boxes and boxes the director filled with research for his biopic about the French general, reading Napoleon's diaries and sending assistants to take photographic location scouting in Waterloo. In 2011 Stanley Kubrick's Napoleon: The Greatest Movie Never Made was published, collecting much of that research. Spielberg is planning on making the script Kubrick wrote into a TV miniseries, but considering part of the problem was the high budget...we'll see.
