10 Movie Plot Holes That Will Destroy Your Childhood
5. The Lion King - Should Have Finished The Job, Scar
The Lion King is a movie about a jealous brother who wants to be king, and opts to murder his brother and his nephew in order to achieve this wonderful dream. All of these characters are lions, by the way, and the movie is set in Africa. It's also based loosely on Hamlet.
Anyway, once Scar - the jealous brother - has murdered his brother via a well-timed stampede, he has his nephew, the only piece of the puzzle which he needs to dispose of in order to complete his evil scheme, right there in the palm of his, uh, paws. He could easily murder him. And yet for some reason, Scar tells Simba to run away and never come back, and leaves it to his goofy hyenas to accomplish what is probably the most important task imaginable at this point.
But we know Scar has no faith in the hyenas at all, because they're clumsy and stupid: why would he leave it up to them to do something he could have done himself? Scar's entire plan hinges on Simba's definite death, so it would have made so much more sense for Scar to have ripped him apart right there in the gorge with nobody looking.
Oh, Scar, how could you be so stupid?
