10 Movie Plot Holes That Will Destroy Your Childhood

3. E.T. The Extra Terrestrial - Don't Forget You Can Levitate!

Universal Pictures

In Steven Spielberg's touching story of boy meets alien creature from outer space E.T., our extra terrestrial friend is accidentally abandoned on Earth when his parents decide to take off in their UFO without him, having landed briefly in the Californian woods. E.T., terrified of the FBI guys wielding walkie-talkies who want to capture him, ends up moving in with your average American family.

Hijinks ensue, until things start getting serious later on. Around two thirds into the movie, though, we discover that E.T. has the ability to levitate not just himself, but a variety of other objects, including bikes and, uh, lots and lots of other bikes. Basically, E.T.'s capable of flight. Which asks the question, of course: why didn't the little fella just fly on up to his UFO when his parents had to get outta there in the beginning?

All he had to do was whiz on up, and Mr. and Mrs. E.T. could've let him back on board. Even if he has limited flying abilities, there's a point where that ship is only 10 feet away. Board!
