10 Movie Plots Only Made Possible Through One Character's Utter Stupidity

2. Llewellyn Moss Doesn't Check For Tracking Devices €“ No Country For Old Men

No Country For Old Men Now, Llewellyn Moss isn't accustomed to a world of murder. He's just a humble Texan, so when he strolls across a drug deal that's gone utterly, utterly wrong, you can bet your bottom dollar that he's shell-shocked. After all, a heap of dead Mexicans and a sack of cash is not what you expect to see when on your average day. So really, when you know people have died and you're taking whoever did the shooting's money, the name of the game is to be as careful as possible, and that certainly involves checking out the money itself. Though I said that Moss is definitely not accustomed to the world in which he finds himself, he's still a clever man €“ you can't outrun a world-class and atrociously-haired hitman if you're not somewhat gifted. However, he still well and truly drops the ball by not checking out that money. Even if you just wanted to throw it out the case to count it €“ an understandable human urge, by the way €“ you'd probably come across the tracker Anton Chigurh's using to hunt him down and disposed of it with prejudice. Hell, I'd have just checked the bag from paranoia alone €“ you never know what a fleet of murderers will do for $2 million. If he'd have gotten rid of it sooner, Moss could've eluded his quarry extremely early on and taken Carla Jean to a new life elsewhere. As it was, he's left wondering why a bowl-cutted man is constantly following him, and when he does realise, Chigurh's already used it to find him again, and this time seriously wound him.
