10 Movie Post-Credits Scenes That Lied

6. Mister Sinister Is Coming - X-Men: Apocalypse

The Wolverine
Fox

X-Men: Apocalypse ends with a tantalising post-credits tease, where men in black suits arrive at the Weapon X facility and take the vials of Logan's (Hugh Jackman) blood stored there.

The scene ends with a close-up of the briefcase containing the vials, which reads "Essex Corp," clearly referring to iconic X-Men supervillain Nathaniel Essex aka Mister Sinister.

While the scene obviously sets up X-23 (Dafne Keen) being created from Wolverine's DNA in Logan, it was also intended to earmark Mister Sinister as the next Big Bad in Fox's X-Men franchise.

Ultimately Mister Sinister was slated to feature in a number of different films, but his various planned appearances were all nixed for a variety of reasons.

He was supposed to show up in Logan until director James Mangold opted not to include him, was scheduled to appear in a post-credits scene in The New Mutants - as played by Jon Hamm - but it was never filmed, and was also meant to play a major part in the Gambit solo film which was cancelled entirely.

With The New Mutants being the final entry into Fox's X-Men series, the promise of Apocalypse's post-credits scene sadly went up entirely in smoke. Hopefully the Marvel Cinematic Universe might one day find a way to bring Mister Sinister into the fold.
