10 Movie Post-Credits Scenes That Lied

5. Jack Sparrow Is Basically Doomed - Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides

The Wolverine
Disney

The fourth Pirates of the Caribbean film ends with Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) marooning his former love Angelica (Penélope Cruz) on a deserted island because he doesn't know if he can trust her.

The post-credits scene shows Angelica stranded on the island when, all of a sudden, a voodoo doll of Jack created by her father, Blackbeard (Ian McShane), washes ashore and she looks at it with intent.

The implication was obvious, that Angelica would be back to torment Jack in the fifth film, using the voodoo doll to get her revenge and enact her will upon the pirate.

But when the fifth film, Dead Men Tell No Tales, finally arrived in 2017, Angelica was nowhere to be seen, nor were she or her voodoo doll ever even mentioned.

Ironically, though, Cruz's real-life husband Javier Bardem did appear as the primary antagonist, Captain Armando Salazar.

Though some fans have used the voodoo doll to explain some of Sparrow's allegedly out-of-character moments in the fifth film, we sadly never got to see a pissed off Angelica meting out comedic vengeance on an unsuspecting Jack.

What a waste, and a false advertisement for a future story many fans actually wanted to see play out.
