7. Stand Off Posters

close up stand off Stand-off posters can work sometimes. Obviously, if it's a mash-up film like Alien vs Predator or Freddy vs Jason then the posters need to depict a stand-off of some sorts. It has become a lot more common for action posters to be made in this way but does it pay off? We know the hero will have an enemy to fight - does it have to be blatantly shown on the poster? It makes it look a lot dumber that it is. They're getting a bit boring now but they're unlikely to die out because they don't hinder that many people from seeing the actual film... they just look a bit naff and you wouldn't want the poster on your bedroom wall.
