10 Movie Poster Cliches That Will Never Die

3. Teaser Title Posters

Picture 1 Teaser titles are becoming a lot more common. Because a lot of people know about a film from day one of shooting, marketers become pressured into releasing something to make followers happy and anticipate the film's release even more, even if it is still a year away and they've barely finished shooting. This is how teaser posters are born; marketing offices have no principal photography to show so they quickly rustle up a poster which literally just shows the title of the film... not even showing the names of those starring in it. Why do we need these posters? We already know the title of the film! Some can be designed with some fancy font and a background which resembles the film in some sort of way but others are so simple any one of us could have made them. In the age of the Internet and specifically IMDb, movie lovers can investigate into what their favourite actor or director has planned next. People become a bit more impatient because they first hear of a film in January 2011 and it isn't released until summer 2012. This means that boring teaser posters are probably here to stay because something needs to be released to keep fans happy... sort of.
