10 Movie Poster Clichés We're All Tired Of

TextonfaceUsed For: Character-driven dramas and thrillers This trend became increasingly popular after the release of David Fincher's film, The Social Network, which featured a highly contrasted face of Jesse Eisenberg as Mark Zuckerberg with text superimposed over his picture. It read, "You Don't Get to 500 Million Friends Without Making a Few Enemies." It's a beautiful poster and worked well for the film. So well, in fact, that other studios have adopted and tweaked the style for their own purposes. Some use a very similar text style, whereas others mix it up a bit by changing the color, position, format, and size of the text. The star of the film is put front and center, with the text showing a key, personal aspect of their character and story.
