10 Movie Poster Clichés We're All Tired Of

7. Black and White With A Burst Of Flame

FlameburstUsed for: Action films This technique has been in use for decades, showing the subject in black and white, along with the red hot or orange flash of fire, implying that heavy action (and obligatory explosions) will be plentiful. Notice that the characters themselves aren't what's being highlighted, but the flames and promise of adrenaline instead. Does it really matter who's in the film or what character they're playing? They've got guns and fast cars, isn't that good enough, action junkies?!
