10 Movie Posters That Subtly Lied To You

3. Machines Rise Up - Terminator 3: Rise Of The Machines

Between the third Terminator movie being sub-titled "Rise of the Machines" and the main poster featuring an army of robots, you'd be forgiven for assuming the threequel was about an army of cyborgs chasing down our heroes, with yet another T-800 (Arnold Schwarzenegger) charged with stopping them.

But in reality, the bulk of the movie is more-or-less a (decent-ish) rehash of Terminator 2, with the T-800 attempting to protect John Connor (Nick Stahl) from a new Terminator, the T-X (Kristanna Loken).

After an all-out war between the human resistance and Skynet's machines was teased in the first two movies, audiences hoped to finally witness it the third time around...only for the whole advertised robot army angle to be ditched entirely for the actual movie. Boo.

Ironically the next film in the series, Terminator Salvation, finally caved in and focused on the future war, only to turn out the most miserable and dull film in the entire franchise.
