Given the phenomenal success of the Hunger Games series (both in terms of the books and the films), it shouldn't be too much of a surprise that we're going to see more of the world that gave us Katniss Everdeen. And now Suzanne Collins is writing a prequel with the inevitable potential movie adaptation also on the way.

The book will be set in the world of Panem 64 years before the events of the dystopian franchise, focusing on the so-called “Dark Days" period of a motorious failed rebellion. It's set to be released in May 2020 and Collins promises it will explore how Panem's people struggled with questions of identity and survival in the 10 year period of reconstruction after the war.

Since the four Hunger Games films made almost $3bn at the box office, Lionsgate have already confirmed they'll be working closely with Collins on the movie.
