10 Movie Promotional Publicity Stunts You Won't Believe

9. Bruno Flies At The MTV Movie Awards! - Bruno (2009)

Bruno Sacha Baron Cohen This flamboyant mockumentary was released in 2009, featuring fabulous fashionista Bruno and documenting his failing quest for worldwide fame and his attempts at reinvention, along with his trusty assistant, Lutz. In true Sacha Baron Cohen style, Bruno was crude, featured plenty of nudity, strong language and drug references. It even included a supposed active terrorist although that claim earned him another law suit after the film was released. Bruno had a rather generous budget of $42 million and made a successful gross worldwide of $136 million. In another glorious example of how successful the rumour mill is in the film industry, entertainment website defamer.com jokingly reported that the working title or the film was to be "Bruno: Delicious Journeys Through America for the Purpose of Making Heterosexual Males Visibly Uncomfortable in the Presence of a Gay Foreigner in a Mesh T-Shirt." Numerous websites around the world - including IMDb - reported this to be the actual working title. No publicity is bad publicity, even when it's accidental. In a publicity stunt as flamboyant and daring as Bruno's lederhosen, Sacha Baron Cohen made his debut appearance in character at the MTV Movie Awards by zip-lining through the audience and ending up in a crotch first entanglement with horrified rapper Eminem. After several awkward moments being manhandled and grappling with his security guards, the disgusted Eminem left the awards in a huff. The video, of course, went viral in minutes and hit news headlines around the world. Et voila - publicity stunt level: awesome. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H8hkEbA4UXQ&feature=youtu.be
