10 Movie Punishments Worse Than Death

6. Davy Jones's Locker - Pirates Of The Caribbean

Room 1408
Disney

On the surface, Davy Jones's life as an undying sea monster seems pretty damn cool. He might have his heart stuck in a chest and he might have a literal squid as a face, but he's got tonnes of money, a great ship, and just does whatever the hell he wants for the large part of his existence. Plus there's that big old kraken that he commands, so you know, he's got it pretty sweet.

That is, apart from being an insatiably brutal captain of a crew of lost souls doomed to rule the seas until someone does away with his heart, at least.

We can pity Jones all we like, but there's still something worse - and that's being one of his crew. The members of the Flying Dutchman have to live out their 100 deathless years of punishment in slave labour, slowly merging with the ship over years of completing thankless tasks under a vicious captain, and his even more sadistic supervisors.

Being painfully transformed into a man-barnacle sounds far worse than just taking your medicine and passing over.
