10 Movie Reshoots That Happened For Ridiculous Reasons

9. A Faulty Lighter Restarts Whole Sequence In 'One Take' 1917

This Sam Mendes-directed epic has been universally lauded, not only for its realistic depiction of World War One, but how the film manages to feel like just one continuous shot. Of course, 1917 wasn't all filmed in one go, it was filmed in little chunks which meant that a single mistake would ruin a chunk and require it to be reshot.

A very silly mistake happened while filming the part where Lieutenant Leslie (Andrew Scott) lights a cigarette: The lighter didn't light! The whole sequence had to be reshot. Yes, a film which executed plane crashes, explosions, and elaborate battles to perfection was disrupted by a faulty appliance. Quite hilarious.

Looks like "Most Reliable Props" is the one award that this film won't win.
