Life of Pi, or as laypeople refer to it "that movie with the tiger and ocean," was a 2012 Oscar-winner directed by Ang Lee.

There are many interesting behind-the-scenes stories that emerged during the making of the film (including a tiger nearly drowning), but none so baffling as the decision to fire Tobey Maguire and refilm all his completed scenes. No, there was no scandal, in fact there wasn't much of a reason at all. Lee decided to reshoot Maguire's scenes because he felt that his fame was too distracting.

Lee also said that he wanted the film to have an entirely international cast. Maguire's replacement was the suitably lesser-known and international Rafe Spall.

Not only was the replacement of Maguire bizarre, it's rude considering that Lee and Maguire have a history that spans two movies.
