10 Movie Reveals So Bad You Almost Walked Out

4. "Deadpool" - X-Men Origins: Wolverine

X-Men Origins: Wolverine serves as a potent reminder of what can happen when Hollywood doesn't show even the faintest shred of respect for a beloved comic book character - we get "Deadpool."

Though the Wolverine spin-off promisingly cast Ryan Reynolds in the role of chatterbox anti-hero Deadpool, he ends up dipping out of the story early on, only to be reintroduced in the third act as the mutant Weapon XI.

Where to even begin with what was wrong about this? For starters, the Weapon XI version of Deadpool looked nothing like his comic book counterpart, more closely resembling Mortal Kombat character Baraka, enough that he quickly earned the derisive nickname "Barakapool" from fans.

But even more egregious than that? His mouth was sewn shut, rendering him mute - a blatantly disrespectful trick for a character whose source material nickname is literally "The Merc with a Mouth."

X-Men Origins: Wolverine was already an aggressively mediocre movie prior to the Deadpool reveal, but this well and truly topped it off. Nothing good would come from sticking around, so why bother?

The only saving grace was that this iteration of Deadpool bombed so horribly that Fox eventually gave it a second, more source-faithful shot, again with Ryan Reynolds, and the rest is glorious, R-rated history.
